Welcome to our page, as you can see we are still working on our website. In the meantime we want to share our story and where you can find us.
Salvo was born in Naples, Italy. Growing up he traveled a lot and has lived in different countries. Combine the inspiration he got from being abroad with his love for baking, and it's the beginning of SALVO.
The Netherlands has been his home for a few years now. His mission is to introduce traditional recipes, forgotten desserts, and unexpected flavors from Naples and other parts of Italy.
The first Italian delicacy he launched was a traditional breakfast from Rome called the maritozzo. A soft homemade brioche bun made with orange and lemon zest in the dough, filled with fresh whipped cream. Do as the Romans do and have it with espresso as your breakfast. You'd like to have it as a snack, lunch or dessert? We won't tell.
The production is at Kitchen Republic (Houthavens, Amsterdam). But Salvo is opening his first shop at Tweede Hugo de Grootstraat (Amsterdam West) later this year! A cafe where you can meet while indulging yourself with homemade Italian baked goods and specialty coffee. Prefer take out or attend a workshop? Yes, that will be all possible!
We have the ambition to sell also in the rest of the Netherlands. But we will start first here in Amsterdam!
We quickly grew from one person baking into a team:
Salvatore Lioniello is the founder of SALVO. He bakes everything himself. He loves finding new recipes from all over Italy. And once in a while, you can also meet him on the market.
Limau Chen is our managing director. But you also may recognize her from her other horeca businesses in Amsterdam. She also puts her stamp on the creative part of SALVO. From photography to creating our maritozzi with beautiful edible flowers.
Nikki Corputty is responsible for our sales and Jill of all trades. You can bump into her everywhere where there's food involved in Amsterdam and on the market. She is also our Instagram model.
Where to find SALVO products in Amsterdam:
Every Saturday, we sell our menu at the Hermitage Market. You can take the entrance at Amstel 51. Opening times from 9.30-16.30 (or till sold out). On our Instagram page @bakedbysalvo, we will post the latest updates. You can ask us your questions and place your pre-order if you don't want to miss out!
You can also find our maritozzo every weekend at:
Uncommon Amsterdam. Eerste Constantijn Huygensstraat 63H in Oud West.

Our maritozzi trio.
Besides our classic, we have other sweet flavors like amarena cherry or earl grey tea decorated with edible flowers. We also have a weekly savoury maritozzi flavour.
Everyone loves cake!
Our olive oil polenta cakes are a hit amongst our customers. And they are also gluten-free. We have two flavors: Orange and Lemon.
Tiramisu cake with a twist. Instead of ladyfingers, we use chocolate sponge cake. It's often ordered as a birthday cake.
Migliaccio ricotta is the Italian version of baked cheesecake.
Pastiera from Naples is where it all started for our bakery. Traditional Easter cake is grains soaked in milk with orange blossom water.
Sometimes you need a quick treat or something small.
An essential with your coffee break is our gluten-free almond snowflake cookie. Crunchy and gooey on the outside and soft on the inside. 100% almond.
Fresh-filled Sicilian cannoli. A crunchy shell fried in-house filled with cow ricotta on the spot and dipped in pistachio.
Allergens: lactose, gluten, nuts, egg, milk.
